Design Team Collabs

Making space for the team to find their own voice.

Year2020 – 2024 Role2D Lead ScopeTeam-driven creative initiatives

A leadership job is partly about output and partly about culture. As 2D Lead at TikTok Effect Design, I championed internal collaboration projects where the team brainstormed ideas, shared their work, inspired each other, and built something creative together. The pieces below are some of those collabs.

A Day in Our WFH Life

A team-made short and a time capsule of WFH life. Every designer animated their own corner of the day, building a shared rhythm when everyone was working alone.

AR Sticker Collab

A New Year gift from the 2D team to the wider Effect Design team. Each 2D designer was randomly assigned several teammates from across 2D, 3D, motion, and production, then drew each one in their own style. Shipped as physical stickers and AR effects, a small showcase of the team's range.

AR Sticker collab. 2D designers' takes on their cross-team teammates, in both physical and AR form.

2D Team Artbook

An illustrated team artbook. Every designer contributed a page in their own voice. A souvenir of the team, and a design love letter to each other.

2D Team Artbook — pages contributed by every designer.

Why It Mattered

Day-to-day production work doesn't always reward range. Collabs like these gave the team a place to try something off-spec, see each other's voices, and bring that confidence back into the work that ships. They bonded us through shared goals and the creativity we built together.
